My Story
Hello, my name is James and this is my story…
I grew up like a lot of other bikers, riding dirt bikes in the woods. Being a kid and seeing my dad ride his Harley, I knew this was a lifestyle I wanted to be a part of.
At fifteen I got my first motorcycle. A Honda CR 80 dirt bike and it was great! I must have rode that bike from the time I got home from school, to well after dark daily. My friend Brad at the time, who live down the road, had a Kawasaki 80 power band dirt bike. Faster than mine, we had a great time racing each other through the north Georgia cow pastures. Good times!
Once I got older, after my dad past away, and a couple of divorces. I found myself in the mindset it was time to get my first Harley Davidson. Just like dad! As my dad rode a 1972 Harley Davidson FLH Electric Glide police special. I bought a 1200cc Custom Sporster, brand new, but just like everyone else, there were plenty of things I wanted to change. Exhaust went first, then the seat, then the paint and front end, cams and air cleaner. Finally, I port and polished the heads and she was now ready to race. Off to the track!
After getting into a lot of trouble, riding with my buddies, getting lost on the back roads with the wind in my hair. It was time for something different. In came the Buell Cyclone, M2, 1200cc, black paint. It also had a Use Force, ceramic header exhaust. Mean machine. Now that bike was fast, a lot of low end torque. Growing up not liking crotch rockets to much. It was Harley Davidson’s version of one.
Now getting older, 45, it was time to slow down. Time to start touring. My first touring bike was a 2014 Harley Davidson Street Glide. Nice ride. A true Cadillac.
10 years later, I think I’ve found my last ride. A new 2023 Harley Davidson Street Glide. Never new technology would be cool on a bike. Boy was I wrong. Pop in the tunes and ride. A great experience.
In closing, no matter what you ride. If you’re in the wind and on two or even three wheels. It’s all about the ride and just having a great time! Ride safe out there and hope you can relate to my story!
